Lansing Sunday School News

The BIG news is that summer is here! The time of year that we visualize as being hazy lazy days of relaxation and slow going. In reality, few ever live the summer we visualize. There are ballgames to go to, swimming and fun on the river, vacations to squeeze in between camp schedules and family reunions, etc., etc., etc. All in all summer is far from lazy!!

Among the other things we need to plan for during summer is Vacation Bible School. We are planning our VBS for July 16th, 17th & 18th. We will have a half day on Wed afternoon starting at 1:00 pm and running till 3:30 pm. On Thursday and Friday we will meet from 9:00 am until 3:30 pm. Treats and food crafts will be provided but everyone will need to bring a sack lunch for those two days.

There is no charge for attending VBS as our fund raising proceeds are used to cover expenses. There will be fun crafts, games to play and Bible lessons to be learned. VBS is always an adventure and just something kids shouldn’t miss. Please make every effort to fit it into your summer schedule.

We will need both adult and student volunteers to fill many areas of responsibility, from teaching to assisting with youngsters activities. If you are able to help out please call Karen at 538-4641. The sooner we know who is available to help the quicker we can get our planning underway.

Sunday school teachers, VBS teachers and nursery planning meeting is scheduled for Wednesday June 11th. At 7:00 pm at the church. We will be looking ahead to fall activities, curriculum and planning for a church nursery and possible toddler Sunday school class. This is an important meeting and it is hoped those involved will be able to attend.

Have a great summer and we will see you in July for VBS!

New Albin Grace Sunday School News

Save your Quillins Receipts - New Albin Sunday School is collecting Quillins receipts. There is a container at New Albin Grace UMC and Lansing UMC to collect these receipts.

Congratulations to Kaylee Darling on her confirmation on May 18. At Grace we had confirmation recognition on Sunday, May 25. Refreshments and fellowship followed the morning church service.

Congratulations to Miranda McCormick and Troy Riehm on their graduation from Kee High School on May 25. They will be honored at Grace on Sunday, June 1. Refreshments and fellowship to follow the morning church service.

Thank you to everyone who helped to support our annual car wash held on Saturday, May 24. We washed at least 33 vehicles and raised $509.00. Thank you to those of you who so generously donated to this fundraiser! We appreciate your kindness so very much!!! If you were unable to attend the car wash, donations would still be welcomed.

There are 7 children from Grace who are attending Village Creek Bible Camp this summer. Please keep them in your prayers, that they have a safe and rewarding experience at camp.

Our previous fundraiser with Schwan's brought in $423.35. We appreciate your help in making this so successful. Thank you!

Please continue to save the Quillins receipts dated April through June for the kids at Grace. The next quarter receipts will need to be dated July - September. Thank you to both church congregations for helping with this fundraiser.

I would like to give a very special thank you to Sandy Hofschulte for her fantastic job as our church secretary for all of these years. She has always been ready to lend a helping hand with so many different projects in the past. There were a lot of fundraisers that she organized and we at Grace appreciated being included in them. The bulletins and newsletters were always so professional. Mistakes were few and far between. When I would call the office and rattle off what I wanted to be in the newsletter, she had a great way of wording things so they sounded good when the newsletter came out. Sandy, I will miss you as our secretary very much and applaud all of your efforts! Good luck in whatever you choose to do next. Lori Darling

Mark your calendars for the 2nd Annual New Albin Days Past & Present celebration, July 18, 19 & 20, 2008.
